Synopsis

Tunis 1977: Khalsawi Khalil, Professor of Constitutional Law is responsible by the ruling party to represent it in the new league rights. hiss mission is to defend the official positions in this period of tension between the government and the union. One day, Khalil learns that Houda, one of his students with whom he has an extramarital affair, was arrested in the south of the country with two Italian journalists who came to investigate on strikes in the phosphate mines.

Trained at the INSAS (Belgian school of cinema) in the seventies, Mahmoud Ben Mahmoud is the author of several documentaries, including a feature film "A Thousand & One Voice" and three fiction films: "Crossings" (1982), "Chich Khan" (1992, co-directed with Fadhel Jaïbi) and "Naps grenadine" (1999), all awards in various international festivals. "The Professor" is his fourth film. Since 1988, Mahmoud Ben Mahmoud teaches scriptwriting at the Free University of Brussels.
