Synopsis

Laan narrates the lives of three childhood friends, Souad, Oubah and Ayane who live in Djibouti. At the center of their lives, and for different reasons, khat, "a popular film that chewed for hours and provides a gentle euphoria and numbness.”

Réalisateur

The Canadian (Somali Djibouti origins) Lula Ali Ismail decided to swap her role as an actress for that of director. Her first short film, Laan, filmed in Djibouti has been selected at the 28th International Film Festival Vues d’Afrique
