Aya, a 10-year-old little girl works as a domestic servant in a small flat in the Medina of Casablanca. Double-locked inside the house, she performs household chores. Mischievous, playful and funny, Aya manages to find happiness despite her confinement. As the Eid Holiday approaches, Aya dreams of getting back home.

Born in Tangier, Maryam Touzani studied in London. Back in Morocco, she works as a journalist specializing in cinema. Quickly, she feels the need to express herself through her own films. Her first short film ‘When they sleep’ will be screened and awarded at prestigious film festivals around the world. “Aya goes to the beach” is her second cinematic short film.
