SYNOPSIS

In a secluded village in northern Senegal, Banel and Adama’s deep love faces

challenges from strict community norms, where passion and defiance are

unwelcome, confining them to a world resistant to change.

Ramata Toulaye Sy directed her first short film, Astel, in 2021. It premiered at

the Toronto International Film Festival’s “Sort Cuts”, before being awarded the

“Bronze Tanit” at JCC 2022.
