In El Kef of the 2020s, in northern Tunisia, Bacteria, Boti, Aymen and the others live a disadvantaged life filled with schemes, humor, both small and big dreams. They grow up near the Cirta, a building that closed thirty years ago but was once the only cinema in the town. A filmmaker invites them to reenact the time when the theater offered a window to the world, taking on the role of young viewers from the past. Little by little, reality catches up with their childhood dreams—and with those of the filmmaker
Director : SAIF CHIDA
Saïf Chida is a Tunisian director. Self-taught, he directed his first short film, Macchabé, in 2015, which won the Jury Prize at the Carthage Film Festival. The following year, he directed Nagra, a fiction short film selected at the Carthage Film Festival and at several international festivals.He is currently developing Cirta, his first hybrid feature film set in Kef.
