Synopsis
After working as a babysitter for a French family in Dakar, a young Senegalese woman is invited to come to France as a governess. But in the West, for everyone it is only «the Black». Deprived of his freedom, dignity and identity, he remains only one last radical act of resistance.

Ousmane Sembene
Born in 1923 in Casamance, Ousmane Sembene is a major writer and filmmaker of the African continent. Self-taught and militant, a Second World War veteran and docker in Marseille, he died in 2007. He is the author of numerous novels and short stories including Le Docker noir (1956) and Les Bouts de bois de Dieu (1960). Published in 1957, Ô pays, mon beau peuple! is his second novel
