Ababacar Samb Makharam - Senegal
Synopsis
A young girl, Kodou, somewhat boldly submits to a tattooing ritual. However, in the midst of the ceremony, while the matrons encourage her with their songs, Kodou makes a hasty escape. In doing so, she deeply offends the age-old traditions of the village. Kodou's family feels dishonored, and her friends mock her. Isolated in near-quarantine, Kodou descends into madness and violently lashes out at young children.

Ababacar Samb Makharam
Born on October 21, 1934, in Dakar, Senegal, Ababacar SAMB Makharam was an actor (Theatre & Cinema), director, screenwriter, and producer (through his company Baobab Films). In 1955, he left his country and traveled to Paris, where he enrolled in the Centre d'Art Dramatique de la rue Blanche. During this time, he founded a theater troupe called "LES GRIOTS." In the realm of cinema, Ababacar SAMB appeared as an actor in numerous films, including John BERRY's "TAMANGO" and Claude Bernard AUBERT's "LES TRIPES AU SOLEIL." In 1958, he attended courses at the Experimental Film Center in Rome. Returning to Senegal in 1964, he worked at RADIO SÉNÉGAL and in Educational Television. In 1972, he became the Secretary-General of FEPACI (Pan African Federation of Filmmakers) until 1976 and was then elected President of the Associated Senegalese Filmmakers. In 1980-1981, he directed and produced "JOM."
