As part of the Focus on Armenian Cinema, the 36th edition of the Carthage Film Festival invites you to a masterclass titled "Armenian Cinema and Identity," led by Armenian filmmaker Tamara Stepanyan, on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 3:00 PM, at MACAM – National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Cité de la Culture Chedly Klibi, Tunis.
The invitation is open to all: filmmakers, cinephiles, and journalists.

This masterclass is dedicated to Tunisian filmmaker Mahmoud Ben Mahmoud, trained at INSAS, professor in Brussels and author of 17 films, including Traversées, Siestes Grenadine, Le Professeur and Fatwa. It offers an in-depth exploration of the work of an artist deeply attentive to issues of otherness and memory. Moderated by journalist and critic Asma Drissi, the session will give the JCC audience an opportunity to discover his career, his questions and his vision of cinema.
The masterclass will be accompanied by the screening of a selection of six of his emblematic films, revealing the singularity of his universe.

As part of a tribute to Algerian director and producer Lakhdar Hamina, the JCC are hosting a masterclass with Malik Lakhdar-Hamina — actor, director, screenwriter, and son of the Palme d’Or winner at the Cannes Film Festival in 1975.
Moderated by scholar and critic Kamel Ben Ouanès, this family encounter will offer the JCC audience a personal and insightful perspective on the career of a filmmaker who has left a lasting mark on African cinema.
In addition to the masterclass, the tribute to Lakhdar Hamina includes the screening of three emblematic films: Chronicle of the Years of Fire (1975, restored version), The Winds of the Aures (1967) and Twilight of Shadows (2014).
