Considered one of the fathers of African cinema, Malian filmmaker Souleymane Cissé (1940-2025) is the honoree of the 36th edition of the Carthage Film Festival (JCC). The festival is paying tribute to him by screening three of his iconic films: Den Muso (1975), Finyè (1982), and Yeelen (1987), as well as hosting a dedicated exhibition on his cinematic world.

The tribute to Cissé is further elevated by the presence of filmmaker Fatou Cissé, who will present her film "A Daughter's Tribute to Her Father." This work traces the childhood, youth, and career of Souleymane Cissé, revealing the moments that shaped his cinematic vision and his influence on the history of African cinema.
