It is with great joy that we celebrate the 25th edition of Carthage
Film Festival.
This session takes on special meaning this year, cinematic of
course, but also historical and political. Our small country decided
to change encouraging the entire region to stand up for itself. It has
become today a laboratory of freedom.
After nearly 50 years now, the festival is a window onto the world, a
melting pot of intellectual exchange and remains a privileged place
of expression for youth.
Youth, one of our top priorities, finds here the ideal opportunity to
show its talent and interest in culture through screenings, meetings
and debates, a fact highlighted in our official selection of
films, most of which are first or second works.
Our Projects' workshop one of the beacons of the festival since
1992 which created many emules around the world becomes Takmil,
a boost to African and Arab "works in progress" in competition
for post-production grants.
Our Festival invites itself for the first time to six regions of the
republic, for the celebration of cinema to be shared.
Another innovation will mark Carthage Film Festival in 2014, the
festival will become annual from now on, giving the opportunity to
the Tunisian audience to view the most recent national and international
film production as is the case of other major festivals .
I'd like to welcome our participants, guests and our loyal audience.
