Synopsis

When his mother dies, Ali feels a deep sense of nostalgia that increasingly cuts him off from his family life. He leaves Montréal in the hope of returning to his roots in Arwad, a small island off the coast of Syria.

Director's biography


Najari and Chila both obtained a BFA in Film Production at Concordia University (2000). In 2001, they took part in a residency at Studio National des Arts Contemporains, Le Fresnoy in France. Arwad is their first feature film.
