Counterbalance ( LEBANON - Documentary )
Synopsis
The imminent demolition of his family home triggers questionings in the filmmaker’s mind. He is an only child and is attracted to men. He is torn between whether to break with tradition, perpetuate the race or live a radically different life? He embarks on a physical and introspective quest searching for an unknown relative to relieve him from this responsibility. If this leads nowhere, he will have to go where he never thought he would: looking for a wife.
Statement of intent
As «Mourads», we’ve been moderate with our kids’ ratio : one child or two maximum. The situation got trickier with me being both the last male descendant and attracted to men. How can I stand through the responsibility of the extinction of my family? Is there a way to question it, explore its limits and if yes, transcend it towards an individual destiny/the right to exist by myself?
