Some twenty years ago, Dr. Denis Mukwege set up the Modern Hospital in Panzi, South Kivu, DRC. There he took in and operated on over 40,000 women who had been raped and mutilated. Rare words that tell the tale of the women who every day meet with barbarism.

She trained in Cinema at the Dakar Media Centre, then in France at Femis and then in Germany at the Filmakademie. In 2005 she directed Mon Beau Sourire, a documentary on how Senegalese women accept pain to fit the canons of beauty. She directs the Karoninka production company, with a dozen films to its credit in 2014.
