Chabaka, Carthage Film festival networking workshop is back for the third consecutive year in a new format and becomes competitive; candidates will have to pitch their projects in front an international jury giving them the chance to win development grants.

Chabaka welcomes duets of African and Arab producers and directors with feature fiction and documentary film projects in the development stage. This workshop is the first step in the creation of cinematographic works.
We offer selected participants the opportunity to meet industry professionals in one-on-one meetings.

Several projects discovered in our workshop had a successful career, ie Fouledh, Nothing about my mother, or Haifa street which is selected at our Takmil 2018 workshop.

A graduate in Filmology at the University of Trieste, Beatrice Fiorentino is a film critic and freelance journalist.
She has taught audiovisual and cinematographic language at the Università del Litorale of Koper (Slovenia) and now she collaborates with magazines and newspapers as 8 e 12, Artribune, Cinecittà News, Il manifesto and Il Piccolo.
Since 2015 she curates "Nuove Impronte”, a section of Shorts - International Film Festival, devoted to the emerging talents in Italian cinema.
In 2014 she won the Akai Prize as Best film critic at the 71st Venice Film Festival and since 2015 she's been part of the "Film della Critica" panel of the National Union of Italian Film Critics. She has been running events, presentations and film festivals for a range of cultural organizations and since 2016 she's part of the selection committee for the International Critics' Week in Venice.

Clarence Thomas Delgado is a Senegalese film-maker. After training in directing and producing at the Lisbon Higher School of Theatre and Cinema (ESTC), he started his professional career in 1979, working as assistant operator and then first assistant director on several films, particularly with Ousmane Sembène.

In 1991 he made his first featurefilm Niiwan. From 2002-2006 he was President of the Cinéastes Sénégalais Associés, and is Manager of the late Ousmane Sembène's Filmi Doomi Reew. He produced L'Appel des arènes (Wrestling Grounds, 2006, by Cheikh A. Ndiaye) and was executive producer of the feature Morbayssa (2011) and Frontières (2016).

Hakim Belabbes is an award-winning Moroccan-American independent film-maker. He taught film at Columbia College and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
He also restructured and ran the Film Education and Grants Programme at the Doha Film Institute, where he also introduced the Qumra Film Festival.
He set up the Sahara Lab initiative, which he currently runs with partners Don Smith and Hammadi Gueroum, and will soon be launching the Sahara Lab Film Institute (SLFI).
