A group of Africans from several different countries leave Senegal on a pirogue captained by a local fisherman; they are attempting the dangerous crossing between the Atlantic and Spain, where they hope life will be better.

He started his film career as a technician. He set up a production company, Films du Crocodile (Dakar), to fund documentaries that were noticed at several festivals. He has directed ten films and his feature film The Pirogue was selected at Cannes in Un Certain Regard and won the 2012 JCC Golden Tanit.
