In 2011, he directed his first short film Breathe Out. His short film, The Aftermath of the Inauguration of the Public Toilet at Kilometer 375 (2014), is the first Egyptian film, selected at the Cinéfondation in Cannes. He won the Cannes Critics’ Week Grand Prize with his first feature film Feathers.
