Synopsis

Algeria, region of the high flatlands. As Islamist groups continue to spread terror, Rashid, a young Jihadist, leaves the mountains to return to his village. In keeping with the law « of pardon and national harmony », he has to surrender to the police and give up his weapon. He thus receives amnesty and becomes a « repenti ». But the law cannot erase his crimes and for Rachid it’s the beginning of a one-way journey.

Réalisateur

Merzak Allouache was born in Algiers. He studied at the National Institute of Cinema of Algiers and ends his studies at IDHEC. In 76, he directed his first feature film «Omar Gatlato.». He lived in France from 83 to 88, and then returned to Algeria in 1993 where it shoots «Bab el Oued City». The violent events that shook Algeria, forced him to move to Paris, where he lives to this day. Since then, he shoots his films either in Algeria or in France.
