Synopsis
the film intertwines the process of an arranged marriage by following two brides-to-be: Sonali, a police woman from a working class and Preeti, a middle-class family-oriented girl who is interested in finding a match from her specific ethnic community. Through these stories, the film looks at the modern-day crisis urban Indian women face when thrown into the great ’marriage bazaar’.
Réalisateur
Ruchika Muchhala is of Indian roots and born and raised in Indonesia and Singapore. She has worked on documentary projects as an editor and television series as a writer and director. “The Great Indian Marriage Bazaar” happens to be the first documentary she has conceptualized and directed. She is currently pursuing a masters in Design for Social Innovation at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
