Jazz comes to Joburg is a story of an artist Kwena Mokwena who creates a modern shrine , The Afrikan Freedom Station Dedicated to spirit of his ancestors, Jacob Madumo a Jazzman who played with the Jazz Maniacs. The film opens the gateway to the memory of jazz in the early days of Johannesburg.

Né à Soweto, en Afrique du Sud, Steve Kwena Mokwena est un historien, cinéaste et activiste culturel. Il est le fondateur de Xivumbeko Media et du Afrikan Freedom Station. Il a étudié l'histoire, la politique africaine et la sociologie. Il a produit et réalisé de nombreux films, dont « A Blues for Tiro » (2007), « Our Father Who Art in Memory » (2008), « Biko’s Trail » (2008) and « Driving with Fanon » (2009).
