Spring Came on Laughing

Born in 1975 ,Noha is a graduate from the English literature Department. She joined a Directing workshop in 2017, and in the same year wrote, directed and produced her 1st short film Into Reverse , then her 2nd short film Once Upon A Time In the Café in 2020 .Both films were officially selected in many international film festivals and received several awards. She‘s currently working on her first feature anthology film.

 

Producer : Kawthar Younis

Kawthar is a filmmaker based in Cairo, Egypt. She is known for her film A Present from the Past, which was the first of its kind to set a record for audience demand in the documentary Egyptian market. She works as a producer for films, mini series and TV commercials. Her latest short film Sahbety / My Girl Friend is the first Egyptian film to officially participate in the short film competition at Venice International Film Festival. Kawthar is also co-founder of the inaugural Rawiyat-Sisters in Film.

Synopsis :
Set against the backdrop of the country's escalating school fires, a survivor embarks on a quest to discover the reason behind it. 20 years after fleeing the flames that killed 67 of his classmates, school fires are still rising in Kenya.

Defying Ashes

Karanja is a Kenyan filmmaker born and raised in Nairobi and is inspired by the beauty and authenticity of African storytelling. He wants his audience to be moved by the stories he tells. His works have been selected and won awards at the AMVCA, Zanzibar International Film festival ,Carthage Film Festival, Kalasha International, and Kisima film festival, among others. He was part of the Inaugural Class of the Multichoice Talent Factory program. He recently completed a film residency international class at Germany's FilmAkademie Baden-Wurttemberg and was awarded the One World Media 2020 Fellowship and recently attended the Ouaga Film Lab 2022.

Joan Njeri is a producer. She is fond of Africa's transformative stories as it allows her to show how these stories are changing the communities’ narratives and fostering positive social impact. Her first film was Kaleidoscope as a production manager. The film was selected for the Zanzibar International Film Festival 2017 and got nominated for the 2017 Kalasha Film & TV Awards. She has worked as a Co-producer for the short film The Read, as Production manager on the short documentary Zumari and Producer for the short film The Good Child. She was selected for the One World Media Global Short Docs Forum 2020, European Film Market Doc-ToolBox Program 2022, Durban FilmMart Institute Alumni Business Lab 2022, and Ouga Film Lab 2022.

Synopsis :
Seven years after the death of his mother, Karim, a 13 year old boy, has left Paris to go back to Morocco with his father Messaoud, who has remarried. After a year of boarding school at the French high school in Casablanca, he returns to Boujad, a small town in central Morocco, to spend the summer with his blended family. His initial emotions merge with the uncertainties of adolescence and the need to reconquer his position in his family.

A Summer in Boujad

Omar Mouldouira was born in Paris in 1973.He graduated in 1999 from FEMIS with a degree in sound engineering. After having worked on the soundtracks of several films, he participated in several Master classes with John Truby and Robert McKee and began to read scripts for the CNC and Equinox. Since 2004, he has been teaching audiovisual techniques, screenplay writing and directing in several film schools in France and Morocco. He has written and directed several short films that received awards in numerous film festivals and were also broadcast on European and Moroccan television.

 

Producer : Mohamed Nadif

Mohamed Nadif is the producer and general director of Awman Productions. He first worked in the theatre as an actor and director, then joined the film industry, acting in numerous films, before moving on to directing and production. At Awman Productions, he produced and directed two feature films, "The Women in Block J" (2019) and "Andalusia, My Love!" (2011). As executive producer and/or co-producer, notably in connection with France, he has mainly contributed to first and second films: "Margelle" by Omar Moudouira, "Entre deux eaux" by Patrice Cordonnier, "Tazzeka" by Jean-Philippe Gaud and "Nomades" by Olivier Coussemacq.

Synopsis :
Rough sea, A tuareg story is a personal journey and an intergenerational transmission of memory. It is a hieratic expedition of a filmmaker through the memory of his people. "I am going from Nouakchott to Timbuktu to reveal our buried history through sand mining.." the director says. Through the Kel Ansar story - the suzerain tribe in the Timbuktu region to which the director belongs- and in the form of a testament to his son, the film narrates the resistance and culture of the Tuareg. Weakened by colonization, sedentarization, droughts, rebellions and cyclical exiles, these Taureg carry out their last attempt to survive.

Intagrist el Ansari is originally from a nomad camp located in Tombouctou region. Until the age of 10, he has been living in the desert. At that time, Touargs groups conflicts with the central malien state that devastated the north of Mali had pushed him to flee to France at the age of 15. He moved to Mauritanie, 10 years ago, where he currently lives and works. He is a film director and author, his literary essays and documentaries pay a particular attention to Saharien culture, history and mutations. In 2014, Intagrist published his first novel ‘Echo Saharien, l’incosolable nostalgie’. His last novel, ‘Touaregs, L’exil pour partie’ was published by Alfabarre edition company located in Paris. For the past 15 years, Intagrist has been participating in various editorial and audiovisual projects about the Sahara and its inhabitants.

Synopsis :
Christine is the head of finance at the maternity hospital in Kintambo. Her job is to make sure that all of the patients have paid their hospital fees. Rémy is the CEO of one of the country's largest mining companies. His attraction for women will tarnish his relationship with his family, especially his 12-year-old son. Mukanya, a night taxi driver, dreams of reaching the Schengen area but life does not make it easy for him. Viya, who just lost her father unexpectedly, will cross the path with each one of them.

Life is a railroad

Kevin Mavakala is an author, director and founder of Pole'Arts. He was born in 1997 in Kinshasa and graduated from the National Institute of Arts in Dramatic Art (Cinema Option). His first film “Les Devoirs” won two prizes at the 4th edition of the Kinshasa International Film Festival. In 2018, his first play “Lipanda” won the 3rd Prize in the "Young Democrat" (Center Carter). His film “La Star” won the prize for best international short film at the Festival Ecrans Noirs 2021 (Cameroon) and was selected for the short film “Corner” for the 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival for the Talented Camera of Africa program.

 

Producer: Dieudo Hamadi

Dieudo Hamadi was born in Kisangani (Congo DRC) fin 1984. He is the author and director of two short documentaries “Dames En Attentes” and “Tolerence Zero”. He then directed 5 feature documentaries “Atalaku (2013)”, “Examen d’etat (2014)”, “Maman Colonelle (2017)”, “Kinshasa Makambo (2018)”, “En Route Pour Le Milliard (2020)”. His films have been selected in international festivals such as the Berlinale, the Cannes Film Festival, the Cinéma du Réel Festival, True False. In 2015 he created Kiripifilms, a production company based in Kinshasa. He produces documentaries and feature films.

Synopsis :

Mohamed Ben Romdhane is a doctor of audiovisual arts, cinema science and technology. In 2014, he worked as a director of photography for the short film ‘180 degrees of happiness” by Wassim Korbi (a Tunisian-Mauritanian production). In 2013, he was the producer and director of photography for the documentary "AZUL" by Wassim Korbi. In 2012, he was the director of photography and assistant director of the film "Les Fleurs de Tiwilit" by Wassim Korbi - 2012.

Marouane Meddeb is a filmmaker, artistic director and production director. He studied theatre and cinema in Tunisia. He has held several positions in film NGOs namely FTCA-ACTI.
